"Dogs are our link to Paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace." ~ Milan Kundera. Meet Madison, a sweet beautiful young Pyr, who loves being around dogs and is growing to enjoy being around people. Born around August 2021, she's a slender 51 lbs and will be a good-sized girl once filled out. Madison was rescued by the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society from a Texas animal shelter.

Madison is house trained, loves her walks, rides well in the car, and is currently learning to enjoy her crate. She is a shy girl who is growing in confidence daily. Madison is great with dogs, and though she has had limited interactions with cats, those interactions have been positive. She's a gentle spirit and is more curious about animals than being aggressive with them.

Madison would do well in a semi-active family with or without kids, a large resident canine companion to show her the ropes, and a securely fenced yard to run and play. A confident leader familiar with Pyr's traits and behavior would be beneficial to her while continuing basic training.

Madison has a lot of love to give. Be the person whose heart is paved with Madison's paw prints and complete and submit an Adoption Application today.

PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS.

Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary.

  1. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home.
  2. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family.
  3. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply.
  4. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience.
  5. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place.
  6. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy.
  7. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered.

Adoption fee: $450 (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo shot, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters located outside of Texas pay the cost of transport to an independent transport service ($250).

While monetary donations are always much appreciated, you can also help by donating your time as a GPRS foster or volunteer.
